Future of flight Aviation Center You will soar into the new world of commercial aviation as you explore Boeing’s newest, high – tech facility, Future of Flight. Open December of 2005, the Future of Flight offers visitors the chance to explore the most recent developments in aviation technology. The new 73,000-square-foot Future of Flight Aviation Center is a unique interpretive facility designed to showcase the phenomenon of commercial jet aviation and production. From interactive exhibits to the only tour of a commercial jet assembly plant in North America, the Future of Flight Aviation Center is anticipated to draw more than 200,000 visitors per year.

Featuring hands-on exhibits, videos, graphics and interactive stations, guests have the opportunity to digitally design their own jet, try out the next generation of in-flight entertainment systems, touch the high-tech “skin” of the new Boeing 787 and learn how technology and aviation can serve and change agents to connect people and cultures across the globe.

As you arrive, you will take in the Grand Lobby and Main Exhibit Gallery. Gaze up at the futuristic-looking aircraft "soaring" overhead against a backdrop of clouds. Look down at the 200-foot-long runway painted onto the floor of the gallery. At the runway's end is the nose section of a Boeing 707 positioned as if it's taking off.

Next, you will follow the white lights leading to red lights, lining the isle of a Boeing 767 cockpit to the Future of Flight Theatre, where you will view a dramatic, time-lapse film of a Boeing 777 being assembled as well as a historical video detailing the history of commercial jet airplanes from the 707 to the 787 Dreamliner. You will be in awe of the time and intensity that goes into producing a Boeing Commercial Jet, as well as the future that lies ahead for the planes in which we will soon travel.

Following the Future of Flight Aviation Center, you will be transferred to Boeing’s assembly plant, just across the street. This unique experience offers an in-depth view of the construction and assembly of many aircrafts. The Boeing Company announced July 25, 1966, that it would build the 747, a jetliner capable of carrying nearly twice as many passengers as previous models.

To build the giant jet, Boeing had to construct a facility large enough to handle the world's largest commercial jetliner. The main assembly building, which the Guinness Book of World Records acknowledges as the largest building in the world by volume, is as large as 75 NFL football fields. Because of its size and magnitude, the Everett plant represents Boeing to the world. Recent dignitaries have included U.S President George W. Bush, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, and Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

The Boeing Everett factory tours showcase The Boeing Company and the Everett product line, the 747, 767, 777 and the new 787. This fascinating tour gives insight into the many facets of the airplane industry. On the Boeing flight line, you will see airplanes in various stages of flight test and manufacture for airline customers around the world.
